France has a significant increase in the number of major cyberattacks in the fourth quarter of 2021 as per the report released by Konbriefing. According to the report, France experienced a continuous rise in cyberattacks on a monthly basis with the figures increasing by three attacks in October 2021 which accounts for a surge of 18.8% compared to the previous month. In November 2021, there was a further increase of five attacks which resulted in a 31.3% surge in cyberattacks compared to October. The trend continued in December 2021, where the figures row by eight attacks which represents a massive surge of 50% compared to November.
The increase in cyberattacks is alarming and raises concerns about national cybersecurity measures. Cyber attacks can have disastrous consequences if France’s government does not take action against such types of attacks otherwise it will lead to massive data breaches, financial losses and even national security threats. Organizations should take steps to enhance the security of their systems and data. They should regularly update their software and security systems with the help of conducting regular security audits. NordVPN research also revealed that France is a popular target for cybercriminals based in other countries. NordVPN found that the most significant number of attacks against France originated from the United States then China and Russia.
